Set in around 150 acres of beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside, Rufford Abbey Country Park blends history, nature, and family fun. Once a 12th-century Cistercian monastery later converted into a Jacobean country house, the ruins of the abbey stand as a reminder of its long, storied past. Outside, tranquil woodlands, a scenic lake, formal gardens, sculpture trails, and forest walks offer space for a peaceful day away from city life.
For families, there’s a large playground, adventure golf, boating (in summer), café options including the Coach House Café and Rufford Mill Tea Shop, and food stalls. For events, Rufford hosts seasonal & themed activities, from outdoor cinema to nature trails and children’s workshops. Entry to the park is free, though parking charges apply. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available, and many paths are accessible.
