This year’s carnival embraces the theme of ‘Folk’, celebrating storytelling, heritage, and traditions from both the past and present. The event promises a lively and inclusive atmosphere, bringing together the community for a day filled with creativity, music, and seaside entertainment.
At the heart of the celebrations is the much-anticipated annual parade, now in its 13th year, which will make its way through the streets of Whitley Bay. Spectators can expect an imaginative display of giant characters inspired by folklore—ranging from ancient myths to modern tales—alongside vibrant groups of performers, families, artists, and musicians. The procession will be rich in colour, sound, and energy, reflecting the spirit of community and shared storytelling.
The parade will begin at Whitley Bay Metro Station at 11:00am, travelling along Station Road, Whitley Road, Park View, and Marine Avenue before reaching the seafront. It will conclude at the iconic Spanish City Plaza, with an expected arrival time of approximately 12:30pm.
Following the parade, visitors can continue to enjoy a range of entertainment and activities along the seafront, making it a full day of celebration for all ages.
