SEA LIFE Brighton, the world’s oldest operating aquarium (opened in 1872), sits on Brighton’s scenic seafront opposite the Palace Pier. It houses over 5,500 creatures including sharks, rays, green turtles, seahorses and jellyfish across more than 55 displays. Signature features include the Ocean Tunnel beneath a 750,000-litre display, the “Day & Night” coral reef experience, and the UK’s first glass-bottomed boat ride, which lets you observe marine life from above.
Visitors will find an accessible entrance via a ramp from Madeira Drive, full facilities (including Changing Places, baby changing, accessible toilets), and a refreshment area in the Victorian Arcade. Booking in advance is advised, especially during weekends or school holidays.
