The Staffordshire Regiment Museum, located adjacent to Whittington Barracks near Lichfield, Staffordshire, is dedicated to preserving and recounting the 300-year history of the Staffordshire Regiment and its predecessor units, including the North and South Staffordshire Regiments, from 1705 until its amalgamation into the Mercian Regiment in 2007. The museum houses an impressive collection of uniforms, weaponry, medals—including those of eight of the Regiment's thirteen Victoria Cross recipients—and personal memorabilia from conflicts worldwide, such as the Boer War, both World Wars, the Gulf War, and service in Northern Ireland.
A significant part of the visitor experience is the immersive outdoor area, which features a full-scale, 100-meter replica of a World War I trench system complete with sound effects, named the 'Coltman Trench' after the Regiment's most decorated Non-Commissioned Officer. Additionally, the grounds include outdoor exhibits like the World War II 'Smart Street Shelter' air-raid experience, military vehicles and tanks, and a military-themed adventure playground for younger visitors, collectively offering a thought-provoking and engaging look at the service and sacrifice of the Staffordshire soldiers.
