STANDEDGE TUNNEL & VISITOR CENTRE

Tunnel End, Waters Road, Marsden, HD7 6NQ

Standedge Tunnel is the longest, highest and deepest canal tunnel in Britain, stretching for 3.25 miles through the Pennine countryside from Marsden to Diggle. Standedge runs 30-minute guided tunnel trips where visitors can learn about how the tunnel was built and tales of the 'navvies' who worked during its construction and learn amazing facts about the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. There's plenty for all the family including guided boat trips, special events and a brand new children's playground and wildlife garden for kids to jump, climb and explore. Free parking available next to Marsden Railway Station. Standedge is just a 15-minute walk along the towpath of the canal. Wheelchair access is available on site and there is a dedicated car park for blue badge holders. Standedge holds a series of events throughout the season.
