Descend into Chislehurst Caves, a maze of lamp-lit tunnels in Kent beneath woodlands and houses, where centuries of history lie hidden. Originally chalk and flint mines, the caves have served many roles: a WWII air-raid shelter for thousands, a munitions store, mushroom farm, and even a concert venue. Guided tours lasting about 45-50 minutes lead you through the cool, mysterious passages where legends, wartime stories, and even entertainment history merge into a fascinating underground journey.
There’s a gift shop, café, and tours run hourly from 10am to 4pm (last tour), Wednesday to Sunday, and daily in school holidays.
