ASTOR COMMUNITY THEATRE

Stanhope Road, Deal, Kent, CT14 6AB

The Astor Community Theatre is a multi-purpose arts centre located in the historic seaside town of Deal, Kent, England. Originally opened as the Stanhope Hall in 1906, the building was gifted to the people of Deal by Major John Jacob Astor in 1944 in recognition of their fortitude during World War II, and was subsequently renamed "The Astor Theatre." Today, the Astor functions as a vibrant cultural hub managed by a community arts trust. The venue offers an eclectic and diverse program of live events, including national touring comedians, live music (from pop and tribute acts to jazz), drama, and pantomimes. It also houses the Astor Picture House, which screens films and hosts National Theatre Live (NT Live) broadcasts. With an auditorium capacity of approximately 176 seated (300 standing), the Astor also serves the community by hosting various classes, literary events, and is licensed for private hire, including weddings and civil partnerships.
