A James Braid designed course, "The Boat" is not only a demanding test of sporting skill but also a magnificent setting for the game. The view from the clubhouse, over the 1st and 2nd fairways and beyond, to the Cairngorm mountains is incomparable, certainly within the realms of Scottish golf. This Highland grandeur can inspire high achievement or, in the more common event of disappointing performance, affords the comfort and consolation of communing with nature in uniquely attractive surroundings. The clubhouse with its restaurant, bar and integral visitor changing rooms offers a warm and friendly welcome to the visitor. A well-stocked golf shop also serves to Satisfy the golfer’s every need.

Reiss, by Wick, Caithness, Scotland, KW1 4RW

Caithness is the region of Scotland found in the extreme northeast corner of the UK. Established in 1870, the course is one in the classical links tradition - 'linking' the land to the sea. The layout is traditional in style. Nine holes run out along the coast, slightly inland, the ninth green being the furthest point of the course from the clubhouse. The second nine are a true returning nine, running back along the coast. This kind of layout means that on the majority of wind-dominated seaside days, the two nines will be played under quite different conditions. Links course. 9 holes 6,123 yards. SSS: 71.

An 18-hole (6,205 yds) heathland layout established over a 100 years ago. The original 9 holes were designed by the master Old Tom Morris with James Braid completing the extension in 1934. The course demands constant attention as a combination of tree lined fairways place the emphasis on precision golf rather than distance, although both are required. Alyth's most demanding aspect however, might be it's tranquil setting. Within it you may lose yourself in the joys of a good game of golf with a layout so conceived that you barely notice other groups of golfers.

Peebles Golf Club overlooking the town and surrounded by the Borders hills has developed into one of the best courses in the Borders and neighbouring Edinburgh region and with a modern club house it now boasts facilities to rival the best.

The testing course, originally developed by Harry Colt, is just over 6,160 yards long, par 70 and features wide rolling fairways with some magnificent views along the Tweed valley.

The course has a challenging start with the opening four holes played mainly into the prevailing wind, but is more generous from the fifth onwards.

The back nine has a more forgiving start but, from the fourteenth onwards, the closing five holes often prove very tricky.
