Dog Lane is first recorded in 1472 and it seems likely that there was already an alehouse in the lane, serving the medieval citizens of this popular little town. An open fire in the lounge bar adds to the welcoming atmosphere and a separate games room provides some traditional pub entertainment. The inn's menu is also in the traditional mould, offering a huge selection of light meals and snacks at extraordinarily good value for money prices. The choice ranges from home made Faggots to Fresh Fish, from Steak & Kidney Pie to more than 2 dozen varieties of sandwich, from Pizza to Jacket Potatoes.
