Not all the clubs and centres for
such aerial activities available in Oxfordshire are listed.
If you know of a flying or parachuting centre which is not yet
listed, please
submit the information here.
We are based in the heart of the Cotswolds with
stunning aerial views. The Club is for flying
enthusiasts with a focus on touring. Foreign
trips are encouraged. Students are also
encouraged to fly as passengers whenever
possible. This is an ideal way for them to gain
experience of flying and have a go at the radio
while someone else worries about working the
controls. Learn to fly at Enstone with our
professional flying instructors. We provide
Trial Lessons, PPL Training as well as Advanced
Training. Our members enjoy virtually
unrestricted airspace with no traffic queues!
The Club has a friendly, informal atmosphere
where families are welcome. Fuel and hangarage
is available on site. Light refreshments are
also available in the clubhouse.
Pilot Flight Training offers both JAA and FAA
flight training courses allowing our students to
learn to fly in a professional and friendly
environment from three airfields in the United
Kingdom. We teach both the PPL and NPPL
licences, IMC rating, Night Qualification and
aerobatics. Our main school at Oxford airport
enables students to learn to fly at one of
Europe's premier training airports, where you
can learn alongside trainee airline pilots from
across the globe. At Wellesbourne-Mountford
airport, we are never restricted by airfield
movements or prevailing winds whilst at
Hinton-in-the-Hedges, we can accommodate more
gentle pursuits such as taildragging and
motorgliding! Pilot Flight Training is fully
approved to teach pilots for both JAA and FAA
licences. All groundschool, flight training and
flight tests required are conducted by us on the
premises by professional instructors and flight
examiners dedicated to providing high quality
training at sensible prices. Pilot Flight
Training has an extensive fleet, from Piper
Cherokee training aircraft, to Cessna C172 and
aerobatic Slingsby aircraft.
Shenington Gliding Club is one of the most
dynamic and progressive gliding clubs in the
country, with an increase in membership of 300%
since 1991. We pride ourselves on making
everybody feel welcome. There is a thriving
social life - during summer there are regular
club barbecues, whilst in winter there is the
usual round of seasonal parties. The longer
winter evenings and non-flying days are ideal
for formal and informal gliding lectures,
usually followed by a trip to a local hostelry
for refreshments! Our members range from
teenagers to octogenarians and come from all
walks of life. We believe we have one of the
highest ratios of active flying female club
members in the country at all levels of
experience. Shenington Airfield is a great site,
with a NW facing ridge, excellent Cotswold edge
thermals, no airspace problems. The airfield is
at the top of the ridge with good drainage which
enables us to operate all year round. With
professional instructors and fully qualified
member instructors available 7 days a week you
can fly whenever you like. We have a fully
equipped clubhouse with bunkhouse, cooking and
shower facilities as well as a bar. There is
also on-site catering available at peak times.
You may camp or caravan on site or stay in one
of the excellent local B&B's. Details available
on request.
The Oxford Gliding Club is a civilian club,
which operates every weekend throughout the year
(including Bank Holidays) and for two weeks
during August.
