Places to eat & drink in Warwick.

A major visitor destination, Warwick attracts millions of visitors from around the world.
Made important because of its position on the River Avon and roman Fosse Way, William the Conqueror eventually built its famous castle in 1068.
Fire burned down many of the original medieval dwellings in the town in 1694 and is now mainly made up from historic buildings of the 17th & 18th centuries. It's a lovely place to wander through with market place, individual shops, antique centres, book shops, art galleries, pubs and restaurants.
Naturally, there is a rich mix of heritage and culture, Warwick giving many festivals throughout the year from Folk music to Contemporary, and Spoken Word to Victorian evenings. There is evidence that J. R. R. Tokien based some of the places and people on Warwick and many of the old buildings have been used in TV and film.
Besides its fantastic castle there are many other places of interest to explore here, including the Collegiate Church of St Mary, Hill Close Gardens, the Jacobean St John's Museum, The Mill Garden, Queen's Own Hussars Museum, Saltisford Canal Centre, and if you fancy your chances Warwick has an excellent racecourse which opens several times a year.
