Belmont is a Benedictine Abbey, designed by EW Pugin and opened in 1859, home to a community of about forty-five monks, who meet to pray in the Abbey Church five times a day. The Abbey Church contains fine stained glass by Hardman and is a Grade II* building. Visitors are welcome at all reasonable times to view the Abbey and join the monks in the Abbey Church. Refreshments are available at Hedley Lodge, the Abbey's own guesthouse and the Shop and Information Centre is open every weekday afternoon and longer hours at weekends.
