Accommodation for families, business travel or romantic getaways

The administrative centre of the Forest of Dean, Coleford is only a short distance from the Welsh border. Nearby are the ancient Clearwell Caves and the Hopewell Colliery Museum.

An historic settlement, Coleford was a significant coal mining centre where the metallurgist Robert Forester Mushet perfected the Bessemer process of steel making. He is buried at Staunton churchyard.

Street House is the venue for the ancient Verderer’s Court whose members help to run the forest. Steam train enthusiasts will no doubt head straight for the Perrygrove Steam Railway, which boasts four stations along its 1.5 mile route and uses the world’s first 15-inch narrow gauge locomotive, and the Great Western Railway Heritage Museum at Coleford Railway Yard. The museum is the original Great Western Goods Station of 1883.

Here you will find details of self catering cottages, apartments, villas, mobile homes or cabins, lodges, etc. Also, self-catering accommodation in aparthotels, static caravans, and holiday parks in Coleford or surrounding areas.

Greenacres Self Catering is a small, family run site situated in the glorious Forest of Dean within walking distance of the town centre of Coleford and the breathtaking Wye Valley. We have a static caravan for hire on a self catering basis. The caravan is immaculate inside and out, catering for all your needs. Greenacres is a very friendly camping site with lots to see and do. The area is well known for it's woodland walks and the site is close to Offas Dyke. There are plenty of cycling tracks and a couple of local cycle hire centres on hand. The Forestry Commission manages the woodland and amenities and their centre at Beechenhurst is well worth a visit, as is the Nagshead Bird Reserve at Parkend. Discounted short breaks are also available.
