Mined for iron over 4,000 years, the Caves represent a unique survival of an ancient Forest of Dean tradition of Free Mining, still producing pigments for natural paints.

Nine impressive caverns open to the public, with displays throughout. 'Christmas Fantasy' - Caverns are transformed into colourful, seasonal displays, ideal for the whole family! There is a tempting tearoom and Cave shop which stocks minerals, books and gifts, including pigments from the mine.

Why not go on a real adventure, get kitted up in hard hat and caving gear to explore the depths of the caves beyond the public pathways! This unique experience is open to family groups, schools & colleges providing an exciting and educational underground experience. See website for full details!

Lords, Wembley and Twickenham are recognised as the homes of their respective sports. Similarly, Cheltenham is the hallowed turf of National Hunt, or Jump, racing. Quite simply, every Owner, Trainer and Jockey dreams of winning at Cheltenham. Over 16 days from October to May each year, Cheltenham presents the very best that the Sport can offer. There is simply no such thing as a small race at Cheltenham. Each is fiercely contested, and the major highlights of the Open in November, and the Festival in March define the momentum of the season. And the scope of the site is not limited to racing either. From conferences and seminars to fairs and live entertainment, the Centaur at Cheltenham provides a most versatile arena and a destination within Cheltenham.
