Places to eat & drink in Birmingham (City Centre).

Birmingham, England's second city after London is an important industrial and commercial centre with its own International Airport and a canal system that rivals Venice. Its central location is ideal for visiting areas of Shropshire, Shakespeare country and Warwickshire, and there are quick rail networks to London and the major cities.

With amazing shopping centres like the Bullring and its bulbous Selfridges, the Mailbox and Pallasades etc, not forgetting the famous markets held throughout the year everything is here to woo the visitor. The City is easy to walk around and the canals are an interesting sidestep if you need a change of scene, with their own sets of cafes, bistros and shops.

The Jewellery Quarter is a fascinating district to visit and may become a World Heritage Site, it is home to some 400 jewellery businesses. You will not be short of places to buy some wonderfully crafted pieces and see how some of the jewellery is made.

When you are ready for refreshment Birmingham is the place to start the comparisons with, everything from Balti houses to top class restaurants - it has three Michelin starred establishments, the only city accept London to have them, and with fresh wholesale food markets selling everything from fish to flowers you can be sure you will be dished up something exceptional. You will find eateries to suit all pockets and tastes.

The City also hosts many theatres, museums and art galleries, and is the home of major art collections, such as the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and The Barber Institute of Fine Arts.

The dynamic nightlife cannot be rivalled and has much to offer, and if you a music lover of any sort, your appetites will be satisfied here, with grand classical concerts in the fantastic Symphony Hall, and venues and festivals that offer anything from Jazz to Mardi-Gras.

We cannot give a full list of all available food outlets but below is a small selection of those available in Birmingham (City Centre) or surrounding areas.
