The delightful market town of Denbigh sits in the vale of Clwyd overlooked by an ancient castle. The fortress is a very good example of its kind, many of the walls still complete, with a massive triple-towered gatehouse. Outside the walls it is surrounded by woodland on three sides, and from the air, the hilltop seems to wraps its arms around the town that sits below it.
The medieval town itself is attractive and unspoiled, keeping many of its ancient buildings. There is a sensitive mixture of old and new, and you can still wander down the streets looking in the windows of old style shopfronts.
About ten miles from Denbigh you can reach the Cathedral of St. Asaph and the North Wales Coast.
