Dolwyddelan stands on the A470 between Betws-y-Coed and Blaenau Ffestiniog. It is probably most famous for its castle which itself is unusual amongst Welsh castles in that it was built by a Welsh prince, Llwelyn the Great, rather than by the English or Normans.
