A military song comes to the mind of a lot of of people in the UK when we think of Harlech, 'The March of the Men of Harlech' - has been in the repertoire of many a Welsh Mens Choir and regimental band. Indeed the song commemorates the seven year seige of Harlech Castle in the 1400s.
The Castle still stands proud high on the hill above an almost endless expanse of white sandy beach and is amongst some of the more complete castles in Wales, attracting thousands of visitors each year.
The old part of the towns sits almost on top of the castle and is full of the prettiest tea rooms, gift shops and galleries where you can spot items made by Welsh craftspeople. Harlech is in an ideal spot for exploring the Welsh coast, the spectacular Snowdonia National Park, and perhaps some of the more remote and wild spots.
