The modern-day popularity of Georgian Aberaeron
as a holiday resort came about only after a
local cleric won special permission to build a
harbour here in the 19th century.
It grew from a
tiny fishing village into one of the most
important trading ports in Cardigan Bay,
attracting investment and then tourism.
