Puddletown Town Information

Use the links on the left to find information and images for the towns and villages throughout Dorset...

This strangely-named village lies on the equally curious River Piddle and was transformed into ‘Weatherbury’ by Thomas Hardy when he penned his pastoral masterpiece ‘Far from the Madding Crowds’ in the mid-19th Century.

Dawnay House, which stands proudly in the village centre, was the work of the local vicar, Henry Dawnay, in the late 18th Century.
