Nowhere evokes the charm of the past more than Cothay, one of the best examples of small classic medieval manors to survive in England. Hidden for centuries it has remained virtually untouched since it was built in 1485. The formal gardens were laid out in the 1920's, the main structure being a 200-yard yew walk, off which are many garden rooms, each a garden in itself. There's a small nursery with plants for sale. The tea-room offers teas/coffee, cakes and light lunches. House open to general public (guided tours on Sundays). Access available to the gardens and ground floor of the manor. Groups by appointment. Events held throughout the year from our Antiques Fayres, Food and Craft Fayres, Garden Courses and Shakespeare. Follow the brown tourist signs on the A38.
