A multi-faceted seaside resort that grew as a result of salt panning in the estuary of the River Otter, this picturesque Devon town lies in the shadow of spectacular cliffs. It was while staying at a house near the beach that the 19th century artist Sir John Millais started his famous painting, 'The Boyhood of Raleigh', which is featured on the town's sea wall. The estuary itself is now a salt marsh and has become an important haven for wildlife and seabirds.

Mackerel Cottage is located at the end of a row of cob cottages set back with glimpses of the sea and Otter Head.

There is a private patio area, which is south facing to relax in on those warm sunny days! The cottage has been fully furnished to a very high standard to ensure a comfortable stay. Sleeping 6 persons. Children welcome. On street parking. Open all year.

Only a 5-minute walk to the seafront. Wonderful winter walks and a Bird reserve close by for those of you who are amid bird watchers. Beach, cafes and good local pubs close by. Budleigh Salterton has tennis and croquet courts and book, film, art and music festivals throughout the year.
