Places to eat & drink in Eastbourne.

With a reputation for attracting members of the older generation, Eastbourne is however, a most attractive family resort. Situated on the East Sussex coast, and created in the 1830's by the Duke of Devonshire. The local lord of the manor designed the seafront himself, with the pier being a later addition. A lake is formed, behind the parish church, from the 'bourne' stream, which gave Eastbourne its name. Also known as 'The Sunshine Coast', its claimed to have the highest recorded hours of sunlight. If you head west along the esplanade, you will find a road that leads to the high cliff top at Beachy Head. A worthwhile hike to experience one of the most breathtaking views in this part of the world.
