Brighton's location just an hour's drive from London makes this city and seaside resort a popular destination for weekend breaks or holidays.

It's history as a tourist spot started in the 1750s when a Dr Richard Russell publicised the health giving properties of sea air and bathing. His claims persuaded many people to visit the south coast and Brighton in particular.

The Prince Regent's villa, which later became Brighton Pavilion, is one of the many attractions for the city's visitors.
