Places to eat & drink in Stansted.

Although Stansted Airport is close by, this small town is notable for having a cleverly reconstructed motte and bailey castle built on the site of a former Iron Age hillfort. A Norman castle also stood here but was destroyed by King John in 1215.

The House on Hill Toy Museum is said to be the largest private toy museum in the world. Its 70,000 exhibits include Tommy Steele's jukebox, Roy Orbison's watch and Elton John's money box.
