Local Restaurants, Cafes, Pubs, Bars, etc in Braintree
Places to eat in Braintree.
Although its origins lie in prehistory, Braintree enjoyed several hundred years of prosperity due to its importance as a wool-weaving
centre. In modern times it became the hub of the giant Courtaulds textile empire. The company built the town hall, a school and the
local church. Since then, the school has become a museum and one of its exhibitions describes the life and times of the local 17th
century naturalist John Ray.
Nearby are two ancient, timber-framed barns that once
formed part of a settlement run by the Knights Templar. Built in the 13th
century, they have been transformed into "living" museums.
We cannot give a full list of all available food outlets but below is a small selection of those available in Braintree or surrounding areas.
