Places to eat & drink in Windsor.

The town of Windsor is famous for being the home of the great Windsor Castle where the Royal Family reside from time to time. If you are lucky enough to be in the town when they leave or arrive you are in for a treat, and if the Royal Standard is flying over the tower then you know The Queen is in.

Part of the Castle is open to the public for guided tours, where you can see the sumptuous state apartments or tour up the Tower, see the famous kitchens, or even go on the exclusive evening tours. Places are limited so you will need to book. You can regularly watch the changing of the guard.

In the town itself there are chic shops, tearooms and cafes, restaurants and theatre. Because of its popularity as a tourist destination there are also two railway stations, several large hotels and a bountiful selection of smaller very nice places to stay. See our Windsor accommodation sections.

If you are on holiday here there are plenty of activities besides shopping and taking tea. You can enjoy taking trips on the River Thames or walking in the Great Park. For the children, Legoland is the place to visit, or perhaps a ride on the Royal Windsor Wheel. For peace and quite a visit to the National Trust property of Runnymede, site of the sealing of the Magna Carta, would be a treat, with its open english landscapes and memorials, and to the north of Windsor lies Eton famous for its private College, some parts of which are open to the public.

We cannot give a full list of all available food outlets but below is a small selection of those available in Windsor or surrounding areas.
