For over 5,000 years llamas have been used as pack animals. Today they are still used in South America for carrying loads - especially in the mountainous areas where trade would otherwise be impossible. Llama trekking might not be what you expect you don’t ride them! Llamas are very gentle, intelligent animals and this, combined with the fact that they can carry loads makes them ideal walking companions although here in Scotland these days the loads are more likely to be a tasty picnic and a bottle of chilled wine. Llama trekking is suitable for absolutely everyone - from the very old to the very young, from the able bodied, to guests with mobility impairment.
