October 2008 saw the move of two Amur Tigers, biggest of the big cats, from Edinburgh Zoo to Highland Wildlife Park near Kingussie.  Yuri and Sasha have already reared six cubs and it is hoped that they will continue to breed here.  The park is changing to focus on animals from the world's mountain and tundra environments and is well worth a visit. The tigers have been housed in a new enclosure specially built for them by the Royal Engineers.
