A quaint village on the shore
of Loch Lomond, Luss was the setting for the TV
series ‘Take the High Road’. Nearby, Glen Luss
leads into the Luss Hills whose highest point is
Doune Hill at over 2,000ft.
The Colquhouns of Luss were a formidable family
who became embroiled in a famous fight with the
MacGregors who, in 1603, stole 600 cattle, 800
sheep and 200 horses from them in the ‘Slaughter
of Lennox’. The thieves were later outlawed.
