The Willow Tearooms

217 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow, G2 3EX
Tel: 00 44 (0) 141-332-0521

The Willow was one of the tea rooms owned by Kate Cranston at the turn of the 20th century. Here she allowed Mackintosh to have a free hand with the design of not only the building but also furnishings, cutlery, and even the waitresses' dresses. After her husband died in 1917, Kate Cranston sold her tearooms and the buildings changed to other uses.

However, the new proprietor, Anne Mulhern, recreated the Room de Luxe was to the original design in the original location in December 1983 and the Willow Tea Rooms were reborn.

The building was further developed by recreating The Gallery, which opened in 1996.

Visitors can take tea in the magnificent surroundings of the Room de luxe with its silver furniture and leaded glass work or in the darker, more masculine surroundings of The Gallery.
