This pretty coastal village
was for centuries renowned for its shipbuilding,
its seemingly inexhaustible supplies of fresh fish
and even its oysters.
In the early part of the 16th century James IV
used its deep waters to build a warship. Today its
harbour has been surpassed by the larger Leith
Harbour, though the town still boasts a fish
market and a heritage museum.
