A beautiful James Braid designed course on the
Scottish side of the Solway. Fairways are lined
with heather and gorse. A true test of golf for
all.Tee-times have to
be booked in advance. Golf parties are accepted
maximum size 40.
9 holes, 4540 yards, SSS
67, par 66. A superb 9 hole course with
excellent tees and first class greens. The first
and second fairways lead up to a view point
which many think is unsurpassed in beauty and
extent. This upland layout is an absolute heaven
for wildlife - buzzards fly over head, wild
flowers abound - so you don't have to be a
golfer to enjoy the course.
During
the week it is normally very easy to get on to
the course, just turn up, pay your green fee or
use your Gateway to Golf Pass voucher, sign the
book and away you go. Booking is advisable in
the summer and at the weekends. Restrictions
only when club competitions are on, please check
with Club. Golf parties accepted. Buggies
available.
9 holes, 5400 yards
(18), SSS 66, par 68. This is a well laid out 9
hole golf course on the outskirts of the town.
The greens and tees are well cared for and are a
pleasure to play on. This parkland layout has
some very interesting holes, particularly the
third, with its plateau green - very difficult
to catch in regulation.
A good test of golf for all
types of golfer. Booking is advisable at the
weekends. Golfing parties are accepted. On
Tuesdays and Thursdays rounds must be finished
by 1600.
9 holes, SSS/par 27. 9
hole par 3 course kept in excellent condition
with many short but challenging holes - club
selection is of a great importance if you are to
have a good score.
A great course for visitors
- one which beginners can enjoy whilst at the
same time presenting a fair test for the more
experienced golfer. Bookings are not necessary
and golfing parties are also accepted. If the
Clubhouse is unattended then please use the
'Trust Box'.
9 holes, 5710 yards, SSS
68, par 68. Parkland Course consisting of seven
par 4's and 2 par 3's. For gents the par and SS
is 68 and for ladies a testing 70. The layout
provides an excellent challenge for Golfers of
all abilities.
There are a few gentle
slopes to negotiate but you are rewarded with
some truly magnificent panoramic views along the
Urr valley, north to Cairnsmore of Carsphairn
and some to Kippford and the Lake District
hills. The course is a haven for wildlife -
birds of prey fly overhead, deer are often seen
and woodland songbirds abound in the Rounall
Wood, which is adjacent to the course.
This challenging 18 hole parkland course, with
spectacular views, is situated on the Solway
Coast conveniently located near to Dumfries,
Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie.Many of the holes offer challenging water
features and tree lined fairway. The original 9
holes are demanding with small well guarded
greens and undulating fairways.
The par 3 8th
hole is one of the best short holes in the
country and is worthy of its stroke index 6. The
additional 9 holes opened in 1997 are now well
established and offer golf of the highest
quality. Changing and shower facilities
available.After your
testing round of golf enjoy a well deserved meal
in our well appointed Clubhouse. Individuals and
parties catered for with excellent quality food,
refreshments and wine at reasonable prices.Visiting parties most welcome.

SSS 68, par 68. There is plenty of variety
playing our 18 hole course being a mixture of
parkland and heathland.
The greens are a particular
feature of the course, all having subtle
undulations and an exceptional putting surface.
The Pines feature hole is a 146 yard par three
with water on three sides of the green.
9 holes, 6168 yards
(over 18 holes), SSS 69, par 70. A wooded
parkland course located directly opposite
Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, one mile
outside Dumfries on Bankend Road.
The Clubhouse has a
restaurant and bar. A function room is available
for private parties, club and society meetings.
Group bookings and visitors are welcome but
restrictions apply depending on Club
competitions. Changing areas are available for
visitors. Contact the Club for details.

par 67. Solway Links Golf Course is located in
the heart of Dumfries & Galloway offering good
fun for all the family. Solway Links is an 18
hole pay and play golf course in a stunning
coastal location near Southerness Holiday
Village and beaches.
The golf course overlooks
the Solway Firth with spectacular views of the
surrounding countryside and across the sea to
the Lake District. There are golf clubs for hire
including left handed, trolleys and small items
of equipment for sale - tee pegs etc. No dress
restrictions or handicap certificates required.

The Dumfries and Country Golf Club is a
privately owned parkland course situated on the
outskirts of the town of Dumfries. Open
throughout the season, the comfortable clubhouse
boast visitors changing facilities. A lounge bar
and restaurant looks down the 18th fairway and
we can offer a selection of soft and alcoholic
drinks together with a varied selection of
snacks and meals on request.
Visitors to the Golf Club can take advantage of
the Professional Shop's other services which
include sets of golf clubs, electric and pull
carts all for hire or the 24 hour club repair
and shoe restore service.Visitors are recommended to pre-book tee
times to avoid disappointment. Visiting parties
are by arrangement.
9 holes, 5042 yards (18), SSS 66, par 66.
The nine holes of the course present a
good test of golfing skill all year round.
Winter greens are not used as the course drains
very well. Set in an idyllic location, there are
some stunning views from the course - Wigtown
Bay, the Clints of Dromore and the massif of
Cairnsmore Fleet. The scenery is breathtaking in
every season. Tee times and playing
arrangements: Bookings are not necessary. Mr
Cooper will be only too delighted to help with
this should you feel it necessary. Tee times not
available on Sunday mornings although normally
available after 12 noon. Golfing parties
accepted.
18 hole parkland course
of excellent quality and variety. There are some
gentle slopes to climb but you are rewarded with
magnificent panoramic views of the Dee Estuary
and the surrounding countryside.
Certainly a course worth
playing and a good test of golf for the golfers

Situated in the picturesque River Dee valley and
offering some superb views, Tongland
Family Golf Centre is ideal for the beginner
just starting out or wishing to take up golf for
the first time and who wants to experience golf
in its entirety, the high handicapper looking to
improve or develop their game or the low
handicapper wanting to improve their short game.
A family run business, a warm welcome is assured
for the golfer and non-golfer alike, whether the
choice is to relax in the cafeteria and enjoy a
meal, snack or light refreshment or to make use
of the facilities without the hustle and bustle
normally associated with golf courses.Facilities for the golfer include:A nine bay floodlit, fully fitted,
covered, sculptured practice range extending to
some 350 yards, a 'short game' practice area
with a large practice bunker adjacent to the
short game area.

(18), SSS 70, par 70. The lower course is laid
out on the lower slopes of Whita Hill and
affords some magnificent views across the town
hills and beyond.
Bookings are advisable at the weekends
and golfing parties are accepted. There are no
restrictions for tee times for visitors other
than competition weekends.
9 holes, 4548 yards
(18), SSS 66, par 66. 9 hole - par 66 (for 18
holes) laid out beside the banks of the River
Annan in beautiful countryside and surrounded by
mature trees. An excellent course for beginners
and anyone who is looking for a relaxing few
holes of golf in lovely surroundings.
The golf course is a two
minute walk from the Warden's office. There are
no dress restrictions. Snacks seasonal. Golfing
parties maximum number 30. Pay and Play Golf -
no booking is necessary. Green fees are payable
at the Warden's office.
18 holes, 5418 yards,
SSS 67, par 67. 18 hole parkland course in an
open agricultural setting with delightful views
of the surrounding countryside.
There are two or three
water hazards which make for some interesting
scores! The course was extended in 1988 from 9
holes to 18 holes and now provides a very
reasonable challenge for golfers of all
abilities. Booking is advisable at the weekends.
Golfing parties are accepted.
18 holes, 5259 yards, SSS 67, par 69.
Lovely upland course. Views are truly
magnificent from all areas. Designed by Ben
Sayers and established in 1884 - a really great
challenge for golfers of all abilities. The
course has some really testing holes and as you
can imagine the strength and direction of the
wind can make a break your score.Booking as advisable at the weekends and
in the summer months. On Wednesdays tee times
available up to 3.00pm. Golfing parties accepted
maximum party size 50.
Visitors are welcome to use the well-equipped
games room with two full size snooker tables and
darts and table tennis.
The 18 hole golf course
at Newton Stewart is set in mature parkland,
close to the town, but on the edge of the
Galloway Forest Park, with spectacular views
towards lofty Cairnsmore and across Wigtown Bay.
The challenge provided is
sufficient for the Club to host county
Championships from time to time, but is still
enjoyable for visitors of all standards who are
warmly welcomed on the course and in the
clubhouse.
9 holes, 4454 yards, SSS
63, par 64. The course is set on very
picturesque and historic promontory just below
Monreith Bay. It is laid out on coastal land and
is a very tricky little 9 hole course with
plenty of interest.
If
you can play this course to your handicap then
you are doing well! During the week it is fairly
easy to get on to the course and it is not
normally necessary to book a tee time. Golfing
parties accepted.
18 holes, 6024 yards, SSS 69 par 70.
The 'County' Club Golf is a true links
course and is situated on the shores of the
scenic Luce Bay. The excellent condition of the
course, combined with subtly sloping greens and
changing sea breezes, provide a test of golf for
both high and low handicappers.Tee times have to be booked in advance.
Golfing parties are accepted with prior booking.
There are two courses in
this complex - 18 hole Dunskey Course and 9 hole
par 3 Dinvin Course. Dunskey has been described
by Golf World as 'The best holiday course in the
south of Scotland'.
Set on the cliffs above the
picturesque village of Portpatrick, a links type
course with magnificent views of the Irish
Coast, the Isle of Man and the Mull of Kintyre.
The 9 hole Dinvin Course is adjacent to the
Dunskey Course for those without a handicap.
Portpatrick Dunskey Course offers an undulating
links type layout which is a challenge to all
levels of Golfers, especially when the fierce
wind blows from across the Irish Sea. The 11th
hole, 138 yards from the forward tee, can be
especially challenging, depending on wind
direction, requiring anything from a 9-iron to a
driver.
9 holes, 5954 yards (18), SSS 68, par 70.
This is a very attractive 9 hole upland
course with good views of the surrounding
countryside. Some very challenging Par 4s but
not beyond the scope of golfers of moderate
ability.Normally it
is very easy to get a game on this course and
visitors are made very welcome. Bookings are not
necessary. Golfing parties are accepted but
prior arrangements must be made with the club.

Designed by James
Braid, with views to take your breath away, it
offers all golfers, regardless of handicap, the
chance of an unforgettable game of golf.
The SSS of 72 with a
yardage of 6308 tells its own story.
The course, set on the
North Rhinns peninsula, with wonderful views of
the Isle of Arran and Ailsa Craig, is on
undulating ground with a burn to catch the
unwary.This gem of a course is
a must for golfers visiting the area.
Booking is advisable in the summer.
Golfing parties are accepted, maximum party size
60.
18 holes, 6102 yards,
SSS 70, par 71. Very attractive layout set in
beautiful mid Nithsdale - a mixture of parkland
and heathland with spectacular views of the
Southern Uplands. At 6085 yards with an SSS of
70 it should be fairly easy for the high
handicapper but the course offers a real
challenge for the scratch golfer. It really is
worth walking the course for the scenery along.
During the week it is
relatively easy to get on the course. Booking is
advisable in the summer and the weekends. Only
restriction on visitor tee times when it is
competition days. Golfing parties accepted.
9 holes, 5462 yards
(18), SSS 67, par 68. A very pleasant 9 hole.
Good test of golf to players of all abilities.
Set in lush parkland just half a mile from
Wigtown centre, the course is a haven for those
seeking relaxing golf and a friendly atmosphere.
From the 4th tee there are
magnificent views of Wigtown Bay and across the
Solway Firth to the Lake District hills. During
the week it is relatively easy to get on to the
course. Visitors tee times are not restricted.
Booking is advisable in the summer and at the
weekends, golfing parties are accepted by prior
arrangement with Club Steward.
