Built in 1869 this fine
former church has been tastefully converted,
retaining many of the original features. Set in
the heart of Royal Deeside, within the
Cairngorms National Park. All rooms are situated
on the first floor and have hospitality trays,

voicemail and, in the majority of rooms,

Our restaurant aims

Malibu, but when you visit the Derbar Tandoori
in Banchory, you can try all these to great
effect. The Derbar, on the High Street, above
the travel agent, opened in October last year
and has, quietly and assuredly, been
establishing a reputation for delivering top

At the entrance to the village of Braemar you
will find The Gathering Place, a small family
run bistro. Owners Sandra and Iain Geddes take
pride in producing exciting dishes sourcing
local ingredients as far as possible. Unlike
many local restaurants, The Gathering Place
makes all the dishes on the premises, including
the desserts! Iain is an innovative classically
trained chef with a wealth of experience gained
both at home and abroad, which shows in the
quality and variety of the dishes we produce. We
have a specials board which is updated daily
with many interesting and delicious dishes-
again live on this site - also a chefs special
dish of the day, the dish the chef thinks is
particularly good that day. We do get
exceptionally busy at times so booking is really
