Cartmel Priory is one of
few English monastic churches to have survived
the Reformation.
It has carved choir
stalls, a 15th century stained glass window
and a tall belfry.
At Lindale-in-Cartmel, two
miles north, stands an iron monument to John
Wilkinson who spent his youth here and built
the world’s first bridge made from iron in
Shropshire. |
