The Saint Patrick Centre is situated in the heart of Lecale, St. Patrick's Country and nearby are St. Patrick's grave and the site of the first church he established in Ireland, Saul. The Centre has the only permanent exhibition dedicated to telling the story of Patrick's life and journey. The highlight of a visit is the IMAX presentation, which takes the audience on a virtual tour around Ireland showing sites connected to St. Patrick and Early Christianity. A visit is not complete without a visit to the gift shop which sells quality local jewellery, pottery and crafts. The Centre also has a café and exhibition space. The St. Patrick Centre runs an education programme with an emphasis on community relations work.

The Somme Heritage Centre is The Somme Association's flagship project. It is based adjacent to the Clandeboye Estate just outside Newtownards, the Centre is a unique visitor attraction of international significance showing the awful reality of the Great War, and its effects on the Irish Community. The centre commemorates the involvement of the 36th (Ulster) and 16th (Irish) Divisions in the Battle of the Somme, the 10th (Irish) Division in Gallipoli, Salonika and Palestine and provides displays and information on the entire Irish contribution to the First World War. The centre promotes contact throughout our different communities and you can find out information on many of the major battles of the First World War such as the Battle of the Somme and the Battle of Messines.

UNLOCK THE PAST AT DOWN COUNTY MUSEUM...Visit this unique museum in the restored County Gaol of Down; featuring restored gaol and cells, exhibitions on the history of County Down, children's hands-on activities, site audio tours, Cathedral View tea-room and shop, special events throughout the year, and educational programmes.

Museum open 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday, 1pm to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission Free.
