From September to  November 2006...

Six miles of the resort's Promenade will burst into life as the famous illuminations shine out once more-every night for 66 nights.

The Piers:

All the best seaside resorts have a pier - Blackpool's got three! The piers are one of Blackpool's top features - and each has its own unique character.

North Pier:

is famous for its theatre and seasonal shows, its shops, restaurants and bars and its sunbathing.

Central Pier:

offers you a show bar and the breathtaking Big Wheel, plus amusement arcades for all ages…and

South Pier:

is simply perfect for family fun, with its circus-marquee entrance and spectacular rides. Make sure you visit them all!

There's the international Tower Circus awarded best UK Circus 2001, Tower Top and Walk of Faith challenge. Children can run wild in Jungle Jim's or journey back in time on the Dinosaur Ride. Take tea in the Ballroom or dance to the Wurlitzer Organ, or visit Undersea World or the Charlie Cairoli exhibition.

The Golden Mile:

This is where seaside fun overflows. The brash and bustling Golden Mile offers seaside favourites like hamburgers, chips, ice cream and candy floss. A place where silly hats and saucy T-shirts are the order of the day. The Golden Mile is also the slot machine capital of Britain where giant leisure centres are interspersed with the latest video technology. Discos, cabaret spots and exhibitions are all to be found on Blackpool’s famous Golden Mile. Among the latest additions to the Mile is the £6m Sea Life Centre with its thrilling "shark tunnel". Do the Golden Mile on foot to savour all the sights, sounds and smells, then see it again from a tram or one of the fleet of horse-drawn landaus!

The steam yacht Gondola was first launched in 1859 and now, completely rebuilt by the Trust, provides a passenger service in its opulently upholstered saloons.


This is the perfect way to view Coniston’s spectacular scenery.
