This old market town above the River Ure sits on the very edge of the Yorkshire Dales and is famed for its beer, being home since 1827 to Theakston Brewery, makers of such powerful delicacies as ‘Old Peculiar', and of the more recent Black Sheep Brewery. Nearby are the evocative ruins of Jervaulx Abbey, founded in 1156 by the Savigny monks, where Wensleydale cheese was originally produced. It was eventually destroyed during the reign of Henry Vlll.

The tariff includes an extensive, truly Yorkshire breakfast menu, which includes our own free range eggs to start your day. The large gardens also provide guests with picturesque views of the Yorkshire Dales.

Our second property, Poppy Cottage is a beautiful self catering cottage, lovingly refurbished, and modern its name derives from masses of poppies appearing during its conversion. A barbeque is permitted in the garden on summer days and access is available to the house gardens. Masham is the ideal base from which to explore the Dales and all it has to offer.
