Most towns and villages in Northumberland, as well as most of its tourist and visitor attractions are served by public transport. There are extensive bus services throughout South East Northumberland linking the main towns - Blyth, Cramlington, Ashington, Bedlington and Morpeth - to each other and to Newcastle upon Tyne. There are also regular express bus services from Newcastle to other major Northumberland market towns including Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Hexham. There are over 30 bus
companies operating in Northumberland, many of
which run only one or two services. By far the
largest bus company is Arriva Northumbria, Arriva
buses operate out of 5 Northumberland bus stations
(plus Haymarket bus station in Newcastle). These
are at Alnwick, Ashington, Blyth, Hexham and
Morpeth.
