County Londonderry
Golf Courses, Clubs,
Driving Ranges
A most exhilarating
course with three superb par 4's, four testing
short holes and five par 5's. After an uphill
start the hazards are many, including the river
and a railway, and both judgement and accuracy
are called for.
A challenging course with two par 5s. During the
course of the 9 holes, players have to negotiate
water 7 times and all the fairways are lined
with densely packed fir trees.
Radisson Roe Park has one of the best 18-hole
parkland golf courses in this part of Ireland.
Set amidst the beautiful countryside of the Roe
Valley - with mountains to the south and the sea
to the north - the Roe Park course provides a
challenging combination of water hazards and
natural features. Open all year round, the
course is complemented by its own floodlit
driving range for the dedicated golfer.
Excellent leisure facilities available.
Foyle International boasts a championship
course, a 9 hole par 3 course and a driving
range. It is a fine test of golf with water
coming into play on the 3rd, 10th and 11th
holes. The 6th green overlooks the Amelia
Earhart centre.
Three links courses of which the Strand Course,
opened in 1992, is the undoubted jewel in the
crown. Championship standard, it presents a real
stern test of golf. A classic links, set amid
towering sand dunes with views of the Donegal
hills, the Atlantic and the estuary of the River
Bann. The Old Course at the eastern end of
Portstewart, begins and ends at the site of the
original course, where golf was first played in
Portstewart as far back as 1889. It is set out
along the rocky shore before climbing inland to
give breathtaking panoramic views of the
coastline. The Riverside Course with its 18
holes stretching from the clubhouse down to the
river Bann. A par 68, it mainly comprises the
old back nine of the pre-1992 course and is of a
more inland character.
