Although it was once a thrusting lead mining
centre, this fascinating village in picturesque
Arkengarthdale seems to exist in a sea of calm,
which is no doubt why it has featured in movies
and television programmes, including the classic
James Herriott series ‘All Creatures Great and
Small’.
Pony trekking is an important and popular local
