Close to the village of
Clapham, Austwick sits among some of the finest
limestone scenery in North Yorkshire.
Huge grit boulders brought here by a glacier over
12,000 years ago now stand on stone pedestals.
Thanks to an old legend, the village is known as
‘Cuckoo Town’ and models of the bird can be seen
each year at an annual outdoor market.
