London, England's capital and most visited city in Britain, has so much to offer whether you are a visitor from the UK or a tourist from abroad.

With an abundance of hotels, guesthouses and bed & breakfasts offering accommodation from five-star luxury to simple home comforts, London is popular for weekend breaks as well as longer stays.

Heritage sites like the Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Nelson's column, Trafalgar Square and the Houses of Parliament are attractions that everyone should see but it is the multicultural atmosphere of London which makes it so special.

Visitors flock to the National Gallery, Tate Gallery, the Natural History Museum, the Imperial War Museum but there are many private galleries such as The Wallace Collection that lovers of art and heritage should visit.

As the largest conurbation in the UK, London covers a vast area but visitors are usually attracted first to the very centre, the City of London and the West End. Here you will find most of the main attractions, theatres and stores.

Outside the small concentrated "tourist area" there are many other attractions and a wide variety of accommodation.

Greater London is made up of over 30 boroughs some of which have London postcodes and some of which do not.

This makes it confusing when visitors try to locate an attraction or hotel so, our coverage of Greater London ACCOMMODATION is divided into two parts - the London postal areas and the surrounding boroughs.

Only two of the airports serving London are located within the Greater London boundary, City Airport which can only handle smaller planes serving mainly Europe, and Heathrow, London's main airport. In addition, there are Gatwick Airport to the south and Stansted and Luton to the north. Although these are outside Greater London, we have included details of accommodation close to each.
