course rankings in association with HSBC
in Britain and Ireland, Royal Worlington
has the reputation of being the greatest
9-hole course in England, if not the
world; Bernard Darwin described it as
'The Sacred Nine', which is the title of
its history written by John Gillum in
1993 for the Club's centenary.
It has been compared with St Andrews, having been
laid out for the gutty ball and yet, with scarcely
any modifications, it remains a great test with
the modern clubs and ball. The course has been
well described as a seaside links inland, a
characteristic that has been religiously preserved
by the members, while its greens, managed with the
minimum of artificial aids, are always fast and
true. The Clubhouse too is rather special, a warm
and friendly place treated by its members as a
home from home, steeped in history yet familiar,
comfortable and welcoming. To play Royal
Worlington at any time of year is an experience
not to be missed for anyone who loves the game of
golf. Visitors please note that we are a
traditional 2-ball golf course, so you must play
either singles or foursomes only.
Facilities include, 10 open bays, 5 covered, all
floodlit (midweek only), 6 hole pitch-and-put
course, 12 hole full length course, pro shop,
tuition available with video analysis,
repair service, custom fitting centre, putting
green, clubhouse with bar and traditional bar
menu.

and se in 190 acres of stunning, undulating
countryside.
We offer a wide range of
top class facilities including an 18 hole
championship golf course, 9 hole pay & play

Southwold has
a 9 hole course with alternative tees for
golfers to take advantage of if they wish
to have the challenge of a full length
course.
The golf course allows for a wide variety
of golf to be enjoyed, so upon returning
to Southwold Golf Club you can play a
different round of golf.
There are a few long holes for those who enjoy the
