Fritton Lake Countryworld provides a great day out for people of all ages in acres of unspoilt countryside beside one of the most beautiful lakes in East Anglia. Set in over 30 acres of woodland, The Village Experience has something for all the family. Traditional fairground rides such as The Downhill Racer and Victorian Gallopers, unusual attractions such as 'Hands-On Science', Myths and Legends and Garden Golf. Denver Windmill was built in 1835 and continued to grind corn using windpower for over one hundred years. The windmill stopped work in 1941 when the sails were struck by lightning. Now it has been lovingly restored to full working order with new facilities for visitors to enjoy. Once again flour is being milled using the power of the wind. Your visit will include a chance to explore the whole windmill site and enjoy a unique guided tour right to the very top of the windmill tower. You will have a chance to see flour made the traditional way wind permitting! A new visitor centre tells the story of windmills, corn-milling and the people who lived and worked in these wonderful buildings. Our own tearoom and bakery offer a tempting range of goodies to eat including bread from our own flour.

Set in attractive landscaped gardens, this comprehensive miniature village is built on a scale on 1:12. The layout includes a two and a half inch gauge model railway, radio-controlled boats, and over 200 models. There are additional amusements, children's rides and remote-controlled cars. June-Oct the gardens are illuminated after dusk.

The North Norfolk Railway offers a 10.5 mile round trip by steam train (vintage diesel trains on some journeys) through a delightful area of North Norfolk designated as being of outstanding natural beauty. To the south are wooded hills and the Norfolk beauty spots of Kelling Heath and Sheringham Park. To the north, the sea. All within easy walking distance from the various stations. The flowers are a sight to see throughout the year. In spring and early summer there are primroses, bluebells and the yellow gorse. Later in the year the poppies abound and are set off by the mauve heathers. Enjoy a ride on an historic steam train - you can break your journey to look around the stations and marvel at the steam laden atmosphere from a bygone age. But the North Norfolk Railway is much more than a train ride. There are historic stations, a museum of local railway history, a museum signal box and a visitors centre. There are also buffets and souvenir shops.

Built on part of the Great Eastern Railway's Wymondham to Wells line (the same line as the Mid-Norfolk Railway), the ten and a quarter inch gauge WWLR is reputed to be the longest of it's type in the world. Passenger's travel in open or semi-open coaches behind the railway's unique Garratt steam locomotive, "Norfolk Hero" - named after Horatio Nelson.

The Centre has a collection of different breeds of draft horses, old horse-drawn machinery wagons and carts. Visitors of all ages can delight in seeing the old implements being demonstrated. A viewpoint affords striking views across Horsey Mere, one of the Norfolk Broads, and there is access to the beach at Horsey Gap.







The mere is particularly well known for wintering wild fowl.

One of Britain’s foremost bird sanctuaries.

The Point is a 3˝-ml long sand and shingle spit, noted in particular for its colonies of breeding terns and for the rare migrants that pass through in spring and autumn.

Both common and grey seals can be seen, as well as an interesting range of seaside plants.

An information centre at Morston Quay provides further details on the area’s attractions.

Around the village of Brancaster Staithe, the NT looks after an extensive area of salt marsh, intertidal mud and sand flats, the site of the Roman fort of Branodunum and Scolt Head Island.


The Activity Centre offers residential and day courses for schools, adults and families.
