This large market town stands on the River Maun and was once a wooded area within Sherwood Forest. It was industrialised during the Victorian era, becoming famous for shoe making and hosiery. Later it became an important part of the Nottinghamshire coalfield. The town has an ancient past. Old cave dwellings cut into sandstone cliffs were inhabited even during the 19th century. The Romans had an encampment here and a number of coins featuring several Roman emperors have been found.

Bed & Breakfast in the Guest House or Self-Catering in the caravans or cottage. The market town of Mansfield with its shopping centres, pubs, clubs, restaurants and theatre is only minutes away. The Guest House: Originally two late 18th century farm cottages. All nine-guest bedrooms have an en-suite bath or shower room, television and tea/coffee making facilities. Ample parking available. Self-Catering Cottage/Static Caravans: Cottage with double bedroom, a twin bedded room and a family sized sitting room. Guests' well-behaved dogs permitted only by prior written agreement. Caravans are fully equipped and comfortably furnished and have one or two bedrooms, a shower room with WC and wash basin. Self catering price less 10% discount if only two people occupying and 30% discount if only one person occupying.
