Voted into the top 3 Best Norfolk Attractions in 2014, the North Norfolk Railway carried a record number of passengers this year on its vintage diesel/steam engines, starting at Sheringham, this picturesque journey pauses at Weybourne before travelling through to Holt.
The journey can of course be done in reverse from Holt, which then provides easy access to the centre of the seaside town of Sheringham.
Many special events take place throughout the year, including a visit from Thomas, a Diesel Gala, Vintage Transport Festival, Beer Festival, two Steam Galas with the major event of the year being the 40's Weekend. See our website for further details about these and all other special services.

Currently owning 17.5 miles of the former Great Eastern Railway track and track-bed, the Mid-Norfolk Railway Preservation Trust hope to reach as far as Fakenham. Currently the line is operational between Dereham and Wymondham. They own an expanding collection of locomotives and rolling stock, currently using heritage diesel to haul passengers and freight through the panoramic countryside of Norfolk. Standard Gauge.

Nine miles long, the Bure Valley Railway runs heritage steam and diesel locomotives through scenic countryside, and joins Alysham with the old market town of Wroxham. A special boat train service operates, which connects passenges to a boat cruise along the Norfolk Broads. Narrow Gauge.

This little 10.25 inch gauge steam railway was listed in the Guinness Book of Records for being the smallest gauge on which a scheduled passenger service runs. Travel for a mile from the harbour at Wells-next-the-Sea to Pinewoods Holiday Park. Minimum Gauge.

Built on part of the Great Eastern Railway's Wymondham to Wells line (the same line as the Mid-Norfolk Railway), the ten and a quarter inch gauge WWLR is reputed to be the longest of it's type in the world. Passenger's travel in open or semi-open coaches behind the railway's unique Garratt steam locomotive, "Norfolk Hero" - named after Horatio Nelson.
