Cam Sailing Club
Clayhythe
Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire If you've seen the Cam in Cambridge, you might find it hard to believe there's a sailing club on such a narrow river. It's a little wider where we sail and we have a good stretch of water that's clear of trees. The Cam Sailing Club is a friendly, family club, but with a large racing programme. Although there's regular racing, many members just sail without racing. The grounds, mostly lawns along the banks of the Cam, are an excellent place to relax with a family on a summer's day. Swarkestone Sailing Club
Gravel Pits, Ingelby Lane, Swarkestone, Derby,
Derbyshire, DE73 1JB Swarkestone Sailing Club is situated a few miles south of Derby. We are a small and friendly club with about 140 members. Most of the organised activities take place on a Sunday, or on a Wednesday evening during the summer months, but members are free to sail at other times as convenient to them. Members sail dinghies and windsurfers, but not the more high performance asymmetrics or catamarans. The lake, which we share with an angling club, is about 80 acres, with our longest shore to shore distance being about just over a kilometre. Most of the water can be sailed on, although there are a few shallow patches. We sail through most of the year, with a variety of races and series organised. We welcome and have facilities and equipment for both disabled sailors and juniors. A particular feature of the club is the ease of access to the water from a stable pontoon.

Nottingham Sailing Club
Adbolton Lane, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2
5AX The Club is a recognised Royal Yachting Association training establishment and runs "Learn to Sail Weekends" several times each year. These courses are intensive with a high teacher / pupil ratio, giving excellent value for money. These weekend are open to non-members of the Club. For junior members, the Club also provides junior training on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. There are many opportunities to improve your sailing skills, either crewing for a more experienced helm or by purchasing your own boat. Advice on boat handling, rigging and tuning, repairs and maintenance is readily available from most members. The club owns a fleet of 7 Toppers, a single-handed boat ideal for training and junior racing. There are also 2 GP14s which are used extensively for teaching purposes. Safety on the water is paramount and the Club can provide life jackets for organised training courses. Rescue boats are on duty at these times and during racing. Life jackets must be worn at all times whilst on the water.

Nottinghamshire County Sailing Club
Hoveringham Lane, Hoveringham, Nottingham, NG14
7JX Notts County Sailing Club has two lakes: The Main Lake is used for Racing & cruising by both dinghies & windsurfers. It is about 150 acres and has clear wind from the South West round to the North East. The adjacent hill allows the wind to funnel, giving good winds in many directions. The Training lake is much smaller allowing youngsters and those learning to try their skills on a much easier stretch of water, giving confidence. Water depth is sufficient for a Flying Fifteen, over the entire lake. There are three slipways, including one for larger boats with a fixed landing stage. [Back to top]
