Formed in 1905 and is
situated on the south facing slopes of the hills
north of Cardiff with many holes offering
panoramic views across the City of Cardiff and
the Bristol Channel to the Somerset coast.
Although not a long
course 5338 yards par 68 its undulating nature
creates many and varied golfing challenges.
Its length
ensures a comfortable round of between 3 and 4
hours and also does not present too intimidating
a challenge to the high handicap golfer. Large
well appointed Clubhouse and well stocked pro

Designed by
Harry S Colt one of the foremost course
designers, recent years have seen a
considerable investment to maintain high
standard of presentation and challenge to
golfers of all abilities.
The course
regularly hosts County and National
tournaments, in 2012 it will host the
Girls Home Internationals.
In 2011 Golf
World selected Radyr as one of its
exclusive Top 25 in Wales.
A steady climb from the clubhouse to a level green
- there are no tough climbs - the course then
winds its way through and around delightful
parkland before heading home. Resident
professional and leading coach Simon Swales
provides one of the best shops in the South Wales.
Practice facilities include a putting green,

Three miles
south-west of Cardiff and off the A4055 is the
delightful 18-hole parkland course of Dinas
Powis, which takes the name of the pleasant
small and ancient village of Dinas Powis.
An undulating course
in peaceful surroundings and with a cosy little
clubhouse, it is hard to believe it was taken
over to the growing of vegetables for the war
effort during the Second World War.
Now fully
recovered, this is a popular place to play, as
can be vouched by the membership of some 700,
which is amazing in a smallish county that can
boast 14 good golf courses. Excellent natural
drainage, making it perfect for golf all year
round. Worth a visit.

It is a reasonably short course but that does
not suggest in any way that it is easily
playable, a fact you will be inclined to agree
with more when you walk off the first green.
A modern links championship golf course,
Machynys Peninsula has been designed to
challenge the best players in championship

Cradoc Golf Club, a
members' club, located two miles north of the
market town of Brecon off the B4520 road past
Brecon Cathedral.

An easy walking parkland
course with small greens, water and trees make
for and interesting but not tiring round.

Cardigan Golf Club,
founded in 1895, provides an excellent test of
golf in a magnificent setting against the
backdrop of the Teifi estuary and the Preseli
Mountains.
With undulating fairways, boldly
contoured greens and strategically placed
bunkers the course provides a good test of golf
for all levels of golfers.
It has hosted both Welsh Golfing Union
championships and international matches.
Magnificent stretches of gorse are a feature of
the course and come into play on 15 holes.
Situated on gently sloping soil the course is
playable all year round.

Founded in 1901, Carmarthen is a 18 hole 6245
yard par 71 SSS 70 moorland course. Situated on
the slopes of the Gwili Valley from Carmarthen
amid some of the choicest Welsh countryside.
Llandrindod Wells
Golf Club, an 18-hole golf course on lands
overlooking the spa town of Llandrindod Wells.
Six times open champion Harry Vardon designed
the Course. 5800 yards in length (par 69), that
you see today. The Club welcomes visiting golfers
and hosts a number of open events.
A wonderful classic seaside links golf course
playing through the sand dunes - home of the
Welsh Seniors Championship. Many long par 4's
are here to challenge you on this par 71 6485
yards course. Spectacular views for the visitor
to enjoy.
A beautiful parkland course with views of the
Irish Sea and Gwyrch Castle. There are splendid
finishing holes, a testing par 5, 16th; a 185
yard, 17th to an elevated green, and a superb
par 5 18th with out of bounds just behind the
green.
Located on the North
West Tip of the Island of Anglesey in North
Wales.
Holyhead Golf Club
was designed by the ubiquitous James Braid in
1912.
At a glance, the
scorecard tells you that the course measures
only just over 6000 yards from the back tees and
looks relatively tame with only one serious hill
to negotiate.
The greens have a reputation of
being the best in North Wales. Whilst the course
looks at its most spectacular in the Spring, its
is pleasing all the year round, set as it is, in
a very beautiful part of North Wales. The elevated 10th which
offers a 360 degree panoramic view over
Snowdonia and the Lleyn Peninsula, each hole

Deiniol is an 18 hole 5654 yard par 68 SSS 68
parkland course.
Perched on the side of the
Bangor Mountain, a tough test for golfing ability
but you get your rewards with heavenly views.
Situated just outside Bangor, three miles from
Menai Bridge. Only snow closes the course and
normal greens used throughout the year.

Founded in 1890, Conwy has hosted national and
international championships since 1898. Set
among sand hills, possessing true links greens
and a profusion of gorse on the latter holes,
especially the 16th,17th, and 18th. This course
provides the visitor with real golfing enjoyment

Founded in 1907, Old Colwyn is a 9 hole 5020
yard par 68 SSS 65 meadowland course. Hilly,
meadowland course. Wayward shots might be met by
angry sheep or cattle, that are often grazing on
the course!

Founded in 1910, Dolgellau is a 9 hole 4671 yard
(18 holes) par 66 SSS 63 parkland course and is
one of the prettiest in Wales offering stunning
views of the Mawddach Estuary, down to the
Penmaenpool and Barmouth bridges.
Set in the stunning surroundings of Snowdonia,
beneath the gaze of Harlech's mighty castle this
par 69, SSS 72 championship links has been host
to over 50 national and international
championships and matches. The course is noted
for its long testing par four holes and has five
short holes varying in length and direction. A
feature is the large size of the greens.
Recently rated 29th in the British Isles the
course will provide a stern but fair test to
golfers of all abilities. The course lies within
the Morfa Harlech SSSI and the profusion of wild
orchids in early summer is a joy.
Part links, part parkland, this championship
course starts and finishes on one side of the
main road, the remaining holes more seaside in
nature, being played on the other side. The
holes are pleasantly undulating and present a
pretty picture when the gorse is in full bloom.
Often windy, this varied and testing course is
not for beginners.
Founded in 1908, Vale of Llangollen is a 18 hole
6656 yard par 72 SSS 73 parkland course. The
River Dee quietly flows past five of the holes
although only imposing a threatening presence on
three. Situated on the northbound A5 approaching
Llangollen.
The gateway to the Llyn Peninsula, Porthmadog
has plenty to do and see. The second half of
this course is the highlight. Designed by James
Braid back in 1905, there are some wonderful
views on this mixture of heathland and links
challenge. Superb food, two bars, snooker room
and a well stocked pro shop with expert tuition
available. Try to play Porthmadog if you are
visiting the area - you will enjoy the
experience. Weekdays £37.00,

Founded in 1902, Abersoch is a 18 hole 5671 yard
par 69 SSS 68 part links/part parkland course
set behind sand dunes on a coastline which is
part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty. The view from the fairways are
breathtaking across Cardigan Bay to the
magnificent Rhinog Mountains and beyond. The
clubhouse offers full bar and first class
restaurant facilities.
Easy walking seaside links course with
undulating fairways and quality greens with well
positioned bunkers to test your short game.
Difficult in windy conditions but a fair test of
golf for players of all standards. Excellent
clubhouse facilities. The club has linked up
with the Esplanade hotel in Llandudno which
offers some fantastic golfing breaks.
Founded in 1930,
Rhuddlan is a 18 hole 6291 yard par 72 SSS 70
undulating scenic parkland course is set in the
beautiful Vale of Clwyd.
The course, here at
Rhuddlan provides an excellent test of golf and
is a regularly chosen venue for County and
National Championship Events.
The clubhouse offers
full bar and restaurant facilities daily
throughout the season.
Situated 20 miles from
Chester and a little over an hour's drive from

the British Isles, the oldest affiliated in
Wales with wonderful views over the sea to
Caldey Island.
