Situated 12 miles North
of Aberdeen City Centre, just off the main A947
to Banff, lies one of Scotland's Premier golfing
facilities.
Newmachar golf Club has two
18 hole layouts, both designed by Dave Thomas: Hawkshill
opened in 1990 (6700 yds, Par 72, SSS 74) and
Swailend opened in 1996 (6388 yds, Par 72 SSS
71). A floodlit Driving Range
and Practice Area complete the on course
facilities and is the ideal place to hone your
skills, or take a lesson from one of our PGA
Professionals. Off course is a spacious, modern
Clubhouse, with commanding views over Hawkshill,
it is fully licensed and provides a full
catering service seven days a week.
The birth of Cruden Bay
apparently took place during a meeting in the
North of Scotland Bank, the precise date of the
meeting was 16 June 1898 and in March the
following year the Cruden Bay Hotel and Golf
Course were opened.
The Hotel and the 18 hole
golf course were originally both owned by the
Great North of Scotland Railway Company. Within a
month of their opening the company staged a
professional tournament which attracted many of
the day's leading players including Harry Vardon,
James Braid and Ben Sayers. The event proved an
outstanding success with Vardon taking the first
prize of £30. Cruden Bay was firmly on the golfing
map. Cruden Bay is situated on Scotland's Buchan
Coast, some 23 miles north east of Aberdeen and
seven miles south of Peterhead. The Golf Course
has a dramatic setting with nearby Slains Castle
providing a rather eerie backdrop. Originally laid
out by Thomas Simpson, Cruden Bay is very much a
traditional Scottish links course. In addition to
the 6287 yard 18 hole championship course, there
is also a well-kept 2463 yard 9 hole St. Olaf
course, opened in 1968.

Founded in 1871, Forfar is a
wooded and heathland course with 18 holes, 6095
yards and S.S.S. 69.
Located only 12 miles from
the 2007 championship venue of Carnoustie.
Although we are an inland course the tight
undulating heathland fairways combined with the
classical layout creates conditions similar to
links golf. There is a clubhouse with full
catering facilities. Visitors are welcome.
Golf had been played
at Machrihanish before the formation of the club
as far back as 1871, but it wasn't until 1876
that the club officially formed.
During the first year
of the club formation no less than forty-one
people had became members.
Ladies Golf Club - In 1967
an agreement was made whereby the ladies
undertook to maintain their clubhouse and to
maintain the ladies course, in August 1967 a
disposition was signed that meant ladies now had
to manage their own title and competitions.
Thereafter Machrihanish was the proud owner of
two clubhouses and the whole of the golf
courses, the independence of the Machrihanish
Ladies Club is one of very few in Scotland with
Royal Troon the other known course to have a
ladies club. The course is set in
wonderful dunes in the small village of
Machrihanish, which is situated on the western
side of the remote Kintyre Peninsula; this is
where the sky is big, the sunsets are dramatic
and the air has been warmed by the Gulf Stream
and its relative inaccessibility has saved it
from becoming more commercialised.
The course at Beith
Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 68, hilly parkland
course with spectacular views over the Clyde
Coast and surrounding areas.
Converted to 18 holes
in 1996 with the addition of 9 new holes, the
rolling fairways, small undulating greens, along
with the strong winds that generally prevail,
ensure the course is a tough, but fair test for
golfers of all levels.
The course is always
well maintained and with the ongoing
improvements to the new holes, these factors
ensure the course is an enjoyable one to play
and will continue to improve.
Visitors are
welcome during the week and on Sundays with
little restriction on play during that time,
with various packages available to group parties
on request from the Club Secretary.
Whether you're an

mountain ridge and the Kintyre peninsula, the
surroundings are simply stunning. Challenges of
the course include an interesting array of water
features. Lochranza Golf Course is one of 7
delightful golf courses on the Isle of Arran.
You can play all seven at reduced cost by
purchasing an Arran Golf Pass.
Lamlash Golf
Course is a delightful Par 64 - 18 hole,

The 18-hole
course is a testing par 70 of 6207 yards
whose two par 5s are very long but its
par 3 is quite short by today’s
standards.
The character
lies in the amount of long testing par
4’s that can vary greatly depending on
wind direction and strength.

This 6055 yards long par 70 golf course is set
in the heart of the capital adjacent to
Murrayfield Stadium. The course has been
remodelled and the front nine holes have been
constructed to USPGA specifications, giving an
interesting comparison between old and new. This
is a fantastic course and will suit golfers at
varying levels from beginners to the expert
golfer and provides a great morning or afternoon
out.
Views of Arthur's Seat and the historic Calton
Hill monuments characterise this 18 hole par 70
course. There is an interesting mix of holes on
this undulating parkland course from some tricky
little par threes to some very testing par
fours. This is a relatively short 5511 yard
course that will suit all abilities.
With Arthur's Seat as an attractive backdrop
this nine hole parkland course is a beautifully
prepared and forgiving course. It plays to its
2566 yards par 32, and the small tight greens
make for accurate approach shots. The signature
hole is the long par 3 9th. This 177 yard hole
requires a straight long iron, avoiding the
bunkers at 150 yards, and plays up to a sloping
green making it a great hole to finish on.
The Princes Course at the Braids is a brand new
9 hole course, opened this year. It has an
excellent mixture of par 3s and 4s making it
ideal for beginners, children and families. This
course complements our existing facility at the
Braids and commands excellent views of the
Capital. This course is less demanding than its
neighbour and offers a different kind of
challenge.
Set on the shores of the River Forth in the
north of the city, this course has some
wonderful views of the estuary and on a clear
day you can see across the water to Cramond
Island and Fife. The course is 6281 yards long
with a par of 71. The course is undulating and
parkland in nature, the fairways being long and
expansive, although wayward shots can be left
wanting. The beautiful nature of the course
makes playing this a wonderful golfing
experience for all abilities.
